Regarded by many as one of the greatest goalies of all time Patrick Roy is widely credited with revolutionizing the butterfly style of goaltending.
In the 1993 playoffs against the Quebec Nordiques Roy went head-to-head with Ron Hextall in a Battle of Goalies. Both players were known for their fierce fiery personalities and after falling to the Nordiques in the first two games headlines began to surface that Roy had been bested.
Roy responded with a legendary series of performances winning the next four games against Quebec and dominating throughout the rest of their postseason matchups. Roy set a record for most consecutive playoff overtime wins (10) and tied the 11-game playoff winning streak record.
Roy led Montreal to the Stanley Cup title and was named the Conn Smythe Trophy winner. He is the only player in history to win the award 3 times and the only one to do so in 3 different decades (1980s 1990s and 2000s.)
Pay homage to the revolutionary goaltending pioneer now with his 1992-93 Montreal Canadians Blue Line Jersey.
